Techmeme and BlogBridge

Filed under: Uncategorized — Pito Salas on 5:17 pm

Techmeme is the venerable ‘meme tracker’ site for technology fans. (If you are in technology and you haven’t seen it, you owe it to yourself to check it out.)

Techmeme just introduced a “leaderboard” feature that has gotten a good bit of coverage - basically a list of its top 100 sources over the last 20 minutes — blogs and feeds and sites represented at that particular moment on Techmeme. The idea is, if you are interested in the stories that surface on Techmeme then you might be interested in the most influential sources of those stories.

A nice bonus is that Techmeme offers the leaderboard as an (OPML) reading list. Use that in combination with BlogBridge’s ‘Subscribe to Reading List’ command and you get something quite interesting. A BlogBridge Guide which dynamically contains the top 100 most influential feeds and their articles. (I don’t think you would necessarily read it article by article, but it’s a great source for SmartFeed filtering.)
