Can your current reader/aggregator do this?

youraggeregator.pngWelcome to the BlogBridge site Mashable viewers.

Let me cut to the chase…

We know that there are lots and lots of tools out there. Aggregators, feed readers, what have you. You may already be using one or more of them to read your blogs and rss feeds.

We think we have something a little unique, so we ask that you ask yourself:

“does my current tool offer you this rich set of goodies? (Oh, and while being free?)”

  1. Attention statistics and metrics (release 5.13)
  2. Micropublishing - post directly to your own blog
  3. A built-in meme tracker (release 5.13)
  4. Beautiful album layout for Photo feeds
  5. SmartFeeds - standing searches modeled after iTunes Smart Playlists
  6. Dynamic subscription to OPML reading lists
  7. Publish industry-standard OPML Reading Lists
  8. Huge collection of Feeds and Reading Lists to get you started
  9. Direct integration with del.icio.us
  10. Wide integration with numerous other services, like Amazon, Google, Technorati and Flickr.

Try it today! Remember, it’s free.

  1. Pito, I’m loving the new features in BlogBridge. Really a killer RSS aggregator app, far beyond the other apps and websites I’ve used.

It might be time to update the downloadable version of the app, though… Although the “release 5.1.3″ links point to the weekly webstart, the “Try it today” link points to the download page which still lists 5.0.1. I’d bet there are a LOT of folks still using the standalone version of the app (if only to avoid the JWS Certificate challenge on launch) who would benefit from the new stuff…

  2. Thanks D’Arcy. Yes I am aware that the majority of users are still on 5.0.1. That’s deliberate, as it has had much better testing than the development (weekly) builds. Which is also why the links in the above post are exactly the way they are.

Once this round of work (What’s New, Statistics) is stable enough we will have one iteration’s worth of bug and performance fixing and then release 6.0.

  3. Sweet. Thanks for the update, Pito. I’ll likely be showing BB to some folks this week, and they might be surprised by the difference in features :-)

Ahemm, I thought that the Java has some problems to establish the communication with d.i.u.

  8. @Christian: What blog service are u looking for? I think we’ve found that if you lie and say its WordPress to BB things work ok. If not please let us know (in the forum not here :)

@Markus (Mr. Ahem) I believe the problem you are referring to is with Java Web Start. If you run vanilla BB 5.0.1 the feature is there and as wonderful as ever. (That’s why we call it a ‘development’ release, ahem.)

  9. It stopped being free when a limit on feed count was placed. I stopped being a user that day.

  11. @Pito & Markus: The problem Markus refers to is in Java 1.5-1.6 which doesn’t let us work with SSL. If you use older BB with older version of Java 1.4.2_11 works fine to my best knowledge, you are on the safe side. However, the resolution of the problem for newer Java versions is the part of the moving towards BB 6.0.

    @Past User: See you later!
