From time to time I write about a tool or technology that’s served us incredibly well, and this time it’s our installation technology. Yeah installation is kind of unglamorous but I can tell you from personal experience that if your installation experience is broken, you lose customers, big time. So what do we use?
Let me direct your attention to a really excellent product from Caphyon, called “Advanced Installer“. Advanced Installer is the best we could find.
It organizes and automates the installation procedure for applications on both Mac and Windows, and it has specific additional support for Java applications. If you have this need, I strongly recommend you try Advanced Installer.
We’ve experienced a serious server failure on both the Feed directory in BlogBridge, on the site, as well trial users of our new “Feed Library” product. We are working on it. Apologies and we’ll be back on the air real soon!
I’m thrilled to be the bearer of good news. Another weekly build is out, and as you can see from our change log, it is mainly dedicated to new GUI features and fixes. BlogBridge becomes more visually appealing and polished each day. This time we fixed several annoyances, including some excessively wide dialogs, and slightly improved the HTML rendering of lists.
We also added several missing commands for sending links and copying the selected text of an article to your system clipboard. It was kindly suggested on our forums and, as you can see, we are keen on implementing bright ideas to make your reading life easier and more comfortable.
Users from our forum also requested that we include the publication time in with each article, of course controllable via a preference. And finally we have the ability to open the feed or guide properties dialog simply double-clicking on the feed or the guide themselves. When there are hundreds of feeds to manage, every click counts.
And the last, but not the least, of what we have for today is another Mac OS X eye candy – the dock icon badge. The badge appears when you have something unread in your guides and shows the number of feeds or articles (whatever you choose). Of course, you may decide to turn the whole feature off. Please examine the “Advanced” settings page for options.
Well, this is it for today. As you may know everyone is encouraged to try our cutting-edge weekly builds and give the feedback either through the forum, the feedback dialog or direct mail. We are always responsive and welcoming.
Oh, one last thing… Don’’t be afraid of writing if English is not your native language; we have already developed essential skills and decypher the meaning adroitly. So, please let us know what you think and …
Enjoy your reading!
